Mid-life Crisis

Fruits of our labor thought to bring such happiness,
Yet hopes linger that we are still to live the best.
Work, wife, what novelty makes bliss,
We reach so high but seem to only miss.
Changes to see the grass on the other side,
And allow us to experience life on a new ride.
But God shows we are not really in control,
When randomly we find that little killer of a troll.
A small blemish the picture does show,
Implications so grand we don’t really know.
Human nature and man join to launch a fight,
Only to stare down the barrel of an unknown plight.
Perspective reigns down on the world we have known,
Never the same for days yet to be sewn.
Foreign chemicals give a fighting chance,
As our emotions do the up and down dance.
Our surroundings are forever changed,
With focus on life to the fullest so not be shortchanged.
Friends and loved ones confused with how to console,
Friendship and prayers for our eternal soul.
Circumstances question the path of change right,
Faith pushes to fight the good fight.
Now the uncertainty surely life long,
So day to day we struggle to live strong.
This life is but a blip on the cosmic map,
Time borrowed now see how we can give back.
